
2nd & 3rd Art Challenge
1.) Create a artwork using at least 5 types of LINES.
Lines can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, straight or curved, thick or thin.
2.) Draw or paint a LANDSCAPE using only WARM COLORS.
Landscape: natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, beach, trees, rivers, and forests
3.) Make a PORTRAIT that has COLD COLORS in the BACKGROUND.
Portrait: a likeness of a person
Background: the ground or parts, as of a scene, situated in the rear.
4.) Create a STILL LIFE and label things in the BACKGROUND, MIDDLE-GROUND and FOREGROUND.
Still life: Objects that do not move on their own. Examples Natural items (food, flowers, plants, rocks, shells, etc.) or man-made (pottery, books, vases, jewelry, coins, toys, etc.).
Background is what is happening in the back of your picture.
Foreground is what is closest to the viewer.
Middleground is what is between the background and foreground.
5.) Paint a picture showing VALUE with at least two different TINTS and SHADES.
Value: The lightness or darkness of a color.
Tint: Adding white to a color
Shade: Adding black to a color.
6.) Make an artwork showing SYMMETRY.
Symmetry is when one shape becomes exactly like another if you flip, slide or turn it.
7.) Create an artwork using only GEOMETRIC SHAPES.
Geometric Shape: A shape you can name such as heart, circle, square.
8.) Create an artwork using only ORGANIC SHAPES.
Organic Shapes: A shape that doesn’t have a name. Its free flowing.
9.) Draw or paint a picture using CONTRASTING COLORS.
Contrasting Colors: Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel.
